Pantry Trap

Tanglefoot Pantry Trap System

The Indian Meal Moth has become the #1 pest of stored foods. Other names given to this pest are miller moth, mealy moth and grain moth. Not all homes or retail stores have this insect, but it becomes more common every day. While not known for carrying disease or causing any known health problems, they are nuisance pests that are annoying to everyone.

Indian Meal and other pantry moths prefer coarser grains of flour, and are most often found in packages of whole-wheat flour, graham flour and corn meal. Other products these moths feed on include dried fruits, seeds, crackers, nuts, powdered milk, chocolate, cereal, pasta and other flour products. The insect searches for the smell of food, and searches package products, trying to find an entryway. (Many times, dead larvae can be seen inside packages of flour.) As the larvae grow, they chew their way outside the package and spin their cocoons. Then, they emerge as an adult with wings, and begin to fly -hopefully, straight into the Tanglefoot Pantry Trap System.

The Tanglefoot Pantry Pest Trap has a pheromone that attracts the male moths; they are captured in the trap, and this interrupts the life cycle of this insect. Each box contains two traps and two pheromones. Traps are pre-assembled and easy to use; simply place them near the ceiling near food storage areas, or inside the cupboard or food storage area. The Tanglefoot Pantry Trap System contain no pesticides, and the traps are ready to use; they provide excellent performance, and the compact design minimizes shelf space.
